Frédéric’s father bought Leydet-Valentin from his cousin in 1972, but Valois is where it all began.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vines here date back to that era, and the blend is classic Right Bank - 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards have also been farmed organically since 2015.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe winemaking is unashamedly simple and traditional, allowing the beautiful fruit and fine terroir to shine through: hand-picking, hand-sorting, foot-treading, then 12–14 months in barrel without touching it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe result is a smooth, generous and classy Pomerol. The 2022 has a lovely creamy texture, pure dark fruit, good intensity and a lifted finish. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrédéric recommends giving it at least 30 minutes to open up before serving.
