I’ve known Mike and his talents since 2011, when I helped him go independent with Naked Wines. His Lay of the Land range was a huge seller for me over the years.

I also knew about his small, artisanal family label called Corofin, which only sold into top restaurants and fine wine shops.

Named after the Co. Clare village that his great grandfather, Marcus Joseph Paterson, emigrated from to New Zealand in 1927.

Mike’s goal with Corofin is to work with some of Marlborough’s best growers and let the beauty and uniqueness of the vineyards shine through in the wines

I’ve mixed a 6-pack of the two wines so you can taste for yourself. You’ll get…

  • 4x Meltwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2019 - Mike sources the grapes from two carefully farmed blocks where the yields are lower than more commercial vineyards - giving extra concentration and complexity in the grapes. Mike then works his magic in the winery, using natural fermentation instead of commercial yeasts, and you end up with a generous, textured, easy drinking style of Sauvignon, that’s just hitting its stride now. Sancerre lovers rejoice!
  • 2x Corofin Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 - the vineyard is owned by Dog Point and is meticulously farmed, organically too. Mike’s winemaking is again very gentle to preserve the vineyard character - it spends 14 months in old French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered to keep every last nuance and detail possible in the wine. If you like top Burgundy Pinot, you’ll absolutely love this.

The 6-pack is all yours for €114.16 - or if you’d like to mix your own, just head here to add Mike’s wines individually.

You’ve genuinely helped fulfil a lifelong dream for Mike... to sell wine in the land of his ancestors for the first time. So thank you - and there’s so much more to come.

Superb Sauv blanc

The Sauvignon blanc is superb. Everything you would want and more. The pinot while well crafted and in general I love unfiltered wine, this was not to my palate (nothing wrong with wine) but great to taste a little variety of what a skilled winemaker can produce.
