I’ve worked in wine for almost 15 years now.

The first ten were at Naked Wines, where I grew from a fresh-faced, enthusiastic wine buyer to a not-so-fresh Managing Director.

It was an amazing time - I travelled all over the world, met incredible winemakers, learnt how to grow and run a business, and made friends for life along the way.

But as the company grew bigger, my job became more about spreadsheets and board meetings, and less about wine, customers and winemakers.

And that just wasn’t me!

By this point, my wife Ruth and I had two kids. It was time to move back home to Ireland to be closer to our families.

I had no plans to start my own business at first - but very quickly I noticed two things:

• Wine was crazily expensive
• I knew some amazing winemakers from my Naked Wines days that Irish people were missing out on.

So I decided to quit my job and start WineSpark.

Four years later, we have a thriving community of over 1,200 members, 55 winemakers and 164 wines. Plus another daughter, who’s a week older than the business!

And I’m back doing what I love most - discovering brilliant winemakers and sharing their wines and stories with my customers.

I’ve spent 15 years scouring the planet for the world’s best small producers. I know what’s good and what’s not.

I spend quality time with every one of them, to see what makes them tick, understand their stories and share their wines with you.

And I’ve built a business model that delivers their wines at prices that you can fully trust.
