Napa Valley, California
Daniel Baron
I spent a lot of time in California pre-lockdown, and met some great people there.
One of them is Daniel Baron, who is a pretty big deal in the wine world. After an early apprenticeship at Chateau Petrus, he went on to make wine for decades at Dominus, Silver Oak and Twomey in Napa.
Upon 'retiring' in 2016 he started Complant Wine, his own project with his son Sam.
He selects the best sites for his wines, picks at the point where the grapes have their lowest sugars and ripest flavours, and uses all the know-how and mastery from working with Bordeaux and Napa's most famous producers to craft the ultimate expression of time, place and grape variety.
