This is a modern, fruit-forward, and incredibly delicious style of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.

The vineyard is located north of the village of Saint-Émilion, near Pomerol. It’s right beside Château Figeac, one of Bordeaux’s most iconic (and expensive) wines.

Frédéric uses a higher proportion of Cabernet Franc (19%) than most Saint-Émilion wines. This results in a fresher, brighter style of Bordeaux. Medium and light-toasted barrels further enhance this style.

My friend in France, who runs a wine club in Toulouse, has been a big fan of Frédéric and his wine for years. So when I met her at Wine Paris and told her I was looking for a good Bordeaux for my customers, she reached straight for this bottle.

And it’s everything you look for in a good Saint-Émilion. The nose is intense and dark, with lovely refined oak. On the palate, it’s broad, smooth and elegant, with good structure and length.

It’s just begging for something roasted and beefy on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Finding a good (new) Bordeaux away from the usual tracks is almost impossible

But here it (almost) worked.
Nose: sweet cherry, chocolat and green tea.
Palate: the body doesn't taste like 14,5% alc. and can't keep completely up with the nose.
Good wine, for us 16+ Pts.

Derry Shaw (Dublin)

Great with beef.Enjoyed the 2nd half more than the 1st.Probably benefited from a longer time exposed to the air.

Thanks Derry definitely agree with the air time - this is a completely different wine on day 2! Cheers Eamon

Elegant St Emilion

Excellent Bordeaux, very smooth, good taste in the mouth, it may lack a bit of longevity in the after taste, but that's a small quible

Not worth the price!

Nothing exceptional about this Grand Cru from a great year...the only reason I bought it as St. Emilion is never a 'go to' for me. Lacked depth and complexity for a €33 price tag.
