This is a tiny-production, organic Saint-Joseph that shows you exactly what this famous appellation is all about.

Laurent tells me the vineyard is owned by a guy who used to work for Renault - and when he passed it to his son, it fell into disrepair. Laurent got the opportunity to work with the grapes in 2012, and gradually restored the vineyard to its former greatness.

He only makes 1,500 bottles - and gives the vineyard owner a quarter of them as payment for the grapes!

This is signature smoky, peppery and savoury Syrah from a master craftsman. Wine expert Matt Walls in Decanter called this ‘effortlessly lovely’ - which is a great way to put it.

We’re thrilled to get our hands on a few cases, and can’t wait to hear what you think.

Laurent Habrard describes himself as ‘the happy winemaker’ and when you speak to him, it’s hard not to get caught up in his positivity and good energy.

He is based in Crozes Hermitage in the northern Rhone, the spiritual home of Syrah/Shiraz.

For more powerful Saint-Josephs, it is interesting to have dishes with character opposite. Red meats, duck or barbecue will balance with the spices and the power of the wine.

That's a stunner

Shiraz normally comes with 14 -15 % alcohol these days.
This wine is a light 12,5% specimen. Lots of sweet cherry and dark chocolat,
good acidity and a great flow until the end. Great wine.
For us 17+ Pts.

A glorious wine. To be consumed with almost any roast meat but with duck or beef it was ecstasy.

My wife and I are now together after our children have moved on. We tasted this wine as one of our sons was visiting us. We had it with Dunnes’ PorkSteak. It made the night perfect.
