Laurent Fournier is one of the most talked-about young producers in Burgundy. So it’s a real deal to have him on board for WineSpark.

As with lots of French people, that first face-to-face helps build trust and understanding. And my first visit to him in February 2022 did just that.

By the end of the tasting, we were BFFs and he was pouring me all sorts of delights. One of those delights was this wine.

Fixin is a real hidden gem in Burgundy - like Marsannay, it’s at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits.

It’s between Marsannay and Gevrey Chambertin, and its limestone and clay soils give real power and structure to the grapes.

This is a dark, savoury and fleshy Pinot - with an extra dimension of layered fruit and aromatics which makes it unmistakably Burgundian.

Fixin can be a bit of a beast in youth, and Laurent says don’t hesitate to pair it with strong flavoured meat dishes like boeuf bourguignon, lamb chops or côte de boeuf.

Due to tiny quantities made, there's a limit of two bottles per customer on this wine.
