Marsannay is known to make ripe and dark Pinot Noirs, and this is an amazing example.

What makes it even more amazing is that it’s the “second wine” of his top four Marsannay sites. He makes small volumes of single vineyard wines from these sites, and he blends the rest together to make the Cuvée Saint Urbain.

These sites - Clos du Roy, Les Longeroies, Le Chapitre and Les Echezeaux - are earmarked for future Premier Cru status. So you’re getting Premier Cru fruit at an ordinary cru price.

Laurent loves this blend - each site gives balance and something special to the wine. He says it’s the perfect way to discover Marsannay.

Excellent elegant red

Very smooth, notes of red fruit. Nice to drink on its own

Thanks John for the spot-on review! Cheers Eamon

Super pinot light but fruity with some depth.

It paired excellently with free-range bronze turkey for Christmas dinner.

A class French Pinot.

Very enjoyable.

Disappointing :(

Really disappointing, especially considering how good its ‘big brother’ was. Thin, lacking in body, depth of flavour.

Sorry Martin that sounds like a bad bottle as the wine should be absolutely singing. I've refunded you for it now! Cheers Eamon
