Earlier this year I asked our members which wines they'd like to see more of in 2024.

One thing came back loud and clear - a better selection of reds. Big ones at that. And keenly priced.

Your wish is my command, so off I went to France’s best wine fair, Millésime Bio.

I tasted well over 300 wines over the three days - and found four amazing new reds that exactly hit the brief.

So with Easter around the corner, here’s a case of delicious big reds that will arrive in the nick of time for the long weekend.

In the case you’ll get:

• 2x Domaine Boucabeille Monte Nero 2021 - from an imposing mountain vineyard based on unique schist soils in the Côtes du Roussillon near Perpignan. I’d met winemaker Jean Boucabeille last year and this dark and powerful blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre seriously impressed
• 2x Domaine Jones Fitou 2022 - I’ve known winemaker Katie Jones for years from my time in the UK, and I couldn’t be happier to finally bring her flagship wine over here. This wine is made up of 15 special vineyard sites around the village of Tuchan - most over 100 years old. Expect a hit of juicy blackberries, violets and savoury-smoky flavours - I’m already dreaming of lamb…
• 1x Martinelle Ventoux 2022 - from a mountainous vineyard east of Gigondas and overlooked by the famous Mont Ventoux, this is a classic Rhône blend made by German-born winemaker Corinna Faravel, one of the region’s rising stars. This red is dark, lush and herbaceous and it has a lovely freshness to it too
• 1x Martinelle Beaumes-de-Venise 2022 - a show-stopping red from an area more famous for its fortified wines, this explosive Grenache and Syrah blend will remind you of a good Chateauneuf-du-Pape, at a fraction of the price!
