Stepp Cabernet Franc 2023
Member Price €21.51
The Pfalz wine region in Germany is less than an hour away from France. In fact it’s been part of France several times throughout its history.
So when it comes to growing and making classic French varietals around here, it’s completely natural to the locals.
Add in perfect growing conditions and a new generation of winemakers who’ve seen the world and come back home, and you have the ideal breeding ground for wines of huge quality and potential.
Step forward Gerd Stepp - everything he touches turns to gold in our members’ eyes.
Gerd spent many years making wine in Argentina before returning home to Pfalz, and while he was there he was always impressed by the Cabernet Franc. So when he came across a Cabernet Franc vineyard back home, he immediately saw the potential and opportunity.
This wine is aged in second-use barrels which previously held Grand Cru Burgundy for 18 months, and it’s also left on its lees for the whole time to build additional mouthfeel and texture.
This is elegant, pure and delicious Cabernet Franc - I’m delighted to add this to Gerd’s growing stable of WineSpark best-sellers!

Gerd grew up in a sleepy German village called Bad Durkheim, where his parents and grandparents were farmers and grapegrowers.
You might not be surprised to learn Gerd is now a winemaker in Bad Durkheim, but made damn sure he experienced the world before settling back here.
