If you’re looking for an easy-drinking French red at an amazing price, then you’ve come to the right place.

When Virgile Joly first set up in Saint-Saturnin twenty years ago, he had mainly old vineyards - low-yielding vines that produced concentrated, complex wines.

As the domaine grew, he bought some younger vineyards which produced more fruit. That gave him the idea for a different kind of wine - something fresh, lively and ‘facile à boire’.

Those vines are now 25 years old, no spring chickens themselves!

They’re farmed organically, with yields kept low. The grapes are picked ripe but not over-mature, then the wine is aged in concrete vats to preserve all that lovely fruit and freshness.

The wine is a blend of mostly Syrah and Grenache - it’s juicy and easy-drinking, but with proper structure too. Think blackberries, plums and wild strawberries, with spice, wild herbs and a touch of liquorice and cocoa on the finish.

Le Joly Rouge is exactly what it sounds like - a joyful and generous red, bursting with southern French sunshine.

I’ve admired this wine for years when tasting with Virgile - so I’m delighted to finally bring it to you. At this price, it’s an absolute steal.
