Benjamin comes from Chablis royalty - the Laroche family have been rooted here since 1663. Growing up in the vines, he was always destined to continue the family legacy.
He cut his teeth working in a variety of roles at Domaine Laroche, the family business. From vineyard management, to winemaking, bottling, labelling, exports and sales - he did a bit of everything.
After a brief adventure to the south of France, he returned to Chablis in 2014 to set up his own business - La Manufacture.
It’s amazing in Chablis how one grape (Chardonnay) can taste so different in each and every one of its 20 villages. Yet most Chablis ends up as big, homogenized blends because people want the word Chablis on the label, and that’s about it.
Benjamin’s mission is to change that - to showcase the amazing and varied terroirs Chablis has to offer.
