Winemaker Pilar Garcia is obsessed with white wine.
She only makes white wine. She teaches students all about it at Valladolid University. She’ll make a strong argument why you should pair any cheese with white wine.
And her Mantel Blanco Verdejo has taken WineSpark by storm - becoming our best-selling white wine by a distance.
So one year later, I had to see what other of Pilar’s whites we could add to the range.
It turns out that Sauvignon Blanc loves Rueda’s altitude, and its climate of hot days and cold nights just as much as Verdejo.
It’s got all the grassy, nettley and citrus flavours of a good Sauvignon Blanc, with Pilar’s trademark purity and intensity. And because it’s from northern Spain, rather than New Zealand or the Loire, the price is great.
I’m predicting this will fly just like Pilar’s Verdejo - so grab a bottle and see what you think!

Like many great winemakers, Pilar started out studying chemistry, before getting into winemaking.
It’s fair to say Pilar is a bit of a white wine nut. She only makes white wine. Her husband makes white wine. She’s a lecturer in the University of Valladolid, teaching students about the chemistry of white wine.
Pilar says this wine is very interesting with cheese. She thinks red wine and cheese is a big mistake! The acidity in this will clean your mouth, so you can taste the cheese better.

We ship to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland only. €2 per case is added to all Northern Ireland orders to cover additional shipping costs. The point of sale occurs in the Republic of Ireland.
